New BPI research finds Americans respond more to control, proven results and trusted financial advisors than Bitcoin's "digital gold" narrative, DAiM says.

A national study from the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), polling firm Cygnal, and Neighborhood Bitcoin found that everyday Americans are more moved by personal control, proven multi-year results, and trusted financial professionals than by Bitcoin's long-running "digital gold" pitch. Digital Asset Investment Management (DAiM), an SEC-registered investment adviser dedicated to digital assets since 2018 (CRD #294098), said the findings confirm how the firm has long approached client conversations.

The BPI research tested messages with U.S. registered voters and focus groups. "Digital gold" confused participants and ranked near the bottom. The themes that resonated were control, proven performance, security, and ease of access. Among trusted sources, a financial advisor the respondent had worked with personally ranked first (33%), ahead of retirement experts and Bitcoin-owning friends or family. Celebrities and influencers ranked last. After exposure to tested messages, interest in owning Bitcoin shifted about 12 points toward greater interest. DAiM said the industry takeaway is simple: make the messenger the product--a Fiduciary, not an exchange, influencer, or abstract Bitcoin thesis.

"People are not asking for a slogan. They are asking who is accountable if they put money to work and how they are protected," said Bryan Courchesne, CEO of DAiM. "That is a fiduciary conversation. Bitcoin as 'freedom money'--wealth you can own and size yourself, and pass down to generations--lands. So does the record that every four-year hold has ended higher. What does not land is asking someone to buy a metaphor from a stranger on an app."

Two messages from the study map directly onto advisory practice. Control language such as "we help you decide how much," outperformed going "all-in" narratives. Performance language emphasizing that holders who stayed invested through four-year periods came out ahead--without exception in the tested framing--ranked among the strongest "safety" themes. Combined with "freedom money" (money no bank or government can freeze, inflate, or seize), the research points to a portfolio decision delivered by a known adviser, not a cultural campaign.

DAiM, which describes itself as among the first RIAs built around cryptocurrencies, manages digital-asset and blended wealth strategies through regulated, third-party custody for individuals, families, and institutions, and also supports other advisers through sub-advisory. The firm said it emphasizes three points in client and partner communications:

  • We help you choose the allocation; it does not require going all-in.

  • Bitcoin can function as freedom money inside a supervised account with institutional custody.

  • Multi-year holding periods--not slogans--are the frame for risk and results.

The BPI study did not measure actual purchases and did not evaluate DAiM. It measured which messages and messengers moved stated interest among persuadable non-owners.
